About us
Acupuncture Associates of Richmond was founded by David S. Groopman, M.D. whose unique practice as a medical acupuncturist combines his knowledge of allopathic and traditional Chinese medicine.

David S. Groopman, M.D., FAAMA
Dr. Groopman is a graduate of New York University Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. Board Certifications include Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Medical Acupuncture. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture and a Clinical Preceptor at Stanford University/Helms Medical Institute, training physicians to practice medical acupuncture. Dr. Groopman is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, VCU Medical Center, in Richmond Virginia.

Dr. Groopman has a long-standing interest in pain management. He has lectured in this area at the University of Virginia and to physicians throughout the state. He has advanced training in the use of acupuncture for pain management.
